Der Lidl-Markt auf dem Trierer Petrisberg soll abgerissen und durch einen größeren, moderneren und barrierefreien Neubau ersetzt werden. Laut Volksfreund soll die Verkaufsfläche von rund 1.050 auf 1.500 Quadratmeter wachsen. Geplant ist ein nachhaltiger Holzbau mit begrüntem Dach, Photovoltaikanlage und Fassadenbegrünung. Die Stadt hatte zwischenzeitlich auch studentisches Wohnen über dem Markt ins Spiel gebracht, Lidl lehnte das aus betriebswirtschaftlichen Gründen jedoch ab. Ob und wann der Neubau kommt, ist noch offen – zunächst beraten Ortsbeirat und Stadtrat über die Änderung des Bebauungsplans.
