Eine Studie der Universität Trier fordert, dass Patienten künftig verpflichtend auch über Cyber-Risiken bei Herzimplantaten informiert werden. Diese Risiken werden derzeit nicht standardmäßig besprochen, obwohl die digitalen Schwachstellen zu ernsthaften Konsequenzen führen könnten. Die Studie, veröffentlicht in der Zeitschrift PLOS Digital Health, betont die Notwendigkeit einer kontinuierlichen Überprüfung und Aktualisierung der Einwilligungsprozesse.
